ROCK ACADEMICS

Rock Academics is an in-house academic program for grades seven through twelve, which attracts a dedicated, diverse community of exceptional young dancers. Rock Academics provides academic flexibility and dual preparation for our students’ artistic careers and futures in higher education. The Rock Academics Headmaster, Nicole Digironimo, provides daily academic supervision; academic tutors are also provided to support the education of The Rock School’s Academics students. Our highly motivated students move forward at a pace suited to their individual abilities; students can earn middle school, high school, and college credits, critical to young artists who often spend their college years in professional companies.

Students are provided with a holistic learning experience. They participate in educational field trips, an in-school guest speaker series, workshops designed to supplement their online academics and support their professional goals, community outreach activities, and group presentations on current events.

Rock Academics students spend four to six hours a day dancing. However, students do find time to participate in extracurricular activities. Several group excursions are planned each school year, including a pool party and a trip to the Eastern State Penitentiary haunted house. Each June, seniors participate in a senior performance as well as a traditional graduation ceremony.

ROCK ACADEMICS VISION

The Rock Academic Program Alliance (RAPA) is committed to providing a quality, college preparatory program designed for select students in The Rock School’s pre-professional dance training program. Rock Academics blends cutting edge technology, streamlined academic plans, and individual career counseling and guidance to help students achieve a successful balance between their academics and intensive dance training. Primarily chosen for their talent and potential as dancers, Rock Academics students benefit from high caliber dance training, performance opportunities, and community outreach, in addition to a strong college preparatory program. The Rock Academics approach to learning and its nurturing residential environment provide growing artists with confidence, self-discipline, enthusiasm, and integrity to meet the challenges of any career they pursue.
