Families are asked to review the below list of documents to complete the registration process. International Students will not be permitted to participate in The School’s program(s) until the below, applicable registration components are received by The School.

DETAILS

Only one Scholarship Acceptance Agreement form is required from each student, even if the student is awarded multiple program scholarships. The Scholarship Acceptance Agreement is only mandatory for those that have received a scholarship.

Students participating in the Rock Academic AND Residence programs only need to submit one Care Waiver and Medical packet to The School.

Rock Academic and Residence students will receive further program information from the Rock Academic Headmaster and Residence Director in late Summer.

Mandatory Registration Photos

MANDATORY PHOTOGRAPHS - Even as a returning student, new photos are required each year.

Every registration form for The Rock School Levels 1-6 MUST be accompanied by three photographs of the student, each no larger than 4"x 6". Professional photos are NOT required; clean, clear snapshots will suffice.

Each photo must be labeled on the reverse side with student's full name, age and level (if known).

These photos are only used for the Directors to reference for level placement and will never be shared outside of the school.

Video Audition

Individuals who are prevented from taking part in any of The School’s planned auditions due to circumstances beyond their control (i.e., prior commitments, illness, injury, inclement weather, prohibitive travel distances, expenses, etc.) may audition for The Rock School’s year round program via video.

Video Auditioners are admitted to The Rock School’s year round program on a first-come, first served basis. Scholarships based on merit may be awarded to students who audition by video.

Each audition video must be prepared in accordance with The School’s specifications, submitted with a non-refundable $40 audition fee. Checks should be made out to The Rock School for Dance Education and may be mailed to The Rock School at 1101 S Broad Street Philadelphia, PA 19147.

Audition videos cannot be returned to their senders. Student should be easily identifiable in the video. Additional instructions for auditioning by means of video are below. For specific questions or special cases, please email info@therockschool.net with "ATTN: Video Audition" in the subject line.

PLEASE NOTE: New students submitting a video audition must also submit a STAR Pre-Admission form in order for the video audition submission to be valid for review.

REQUIREMENTS for auditioning by video

REQUIREMENTS FOR AUDITIONING BY VIDEO
Total length: No longer than 5 minutes

AT THE BARRE - Tendu, fondu, développé, grands battements: each front, side and back (one of each in all directions, however both sides of each combination are not necessary, please show combinations on alternate sides), all shot in profile.

IN THE CENTER - pirouettes en dedans and en dehors, a few small jumps. The following steps in one or two combinations: sissone, glissade, assemblé, jeté - all done facing the camera except for those steps which move naturally across the floor.

ACROSS THE FLOOR - Tour jeté, grand jeté, a waltzing grande allegro. Only very short combinations needed.

POINTE WORK - at the barre: rélevès in arabesque on the right foot and then the left (shown in profile) in the center: échappé combination; passé; pirouettes; fouettés turns. Only for older advanced students.

MEN: please include also: tour en l’air and entrechat; à la seconde turns. Only for older advanced students.

Students MUST also submit THREE photos. Please refer to section below to submit your photos by uploading them online or read about other methods of submitting your Mandatory registration photos.
